A YEAR IN THE GARDENS

Late summer brings the tawny colors of autumn. Here Persian Carpet Zinnias in the foreground are joined by Red Snapdragons and more Helianthus in the background.

Frans Hall daylilies set off the Helianthus.

The Snapdragons are orange, yellow and white as well as red.

The Hollyhocks are spectacular this year. Here they are from the back of the perennial beds.

Here is a close-up of these Hollyhocks.

One of William's projects is to grow a fort from Scarlet Runner Beans.

Here's when we realized we needed to make way for a roof.

The Beans keep going and going.

And going! William declares the project a complete success.

Milkweed, a late summer flower, form beautiful globes of blossoms.

Autumn brings beautiful seed heads. Here are the Pasque Flowers' seeds.
