A YEAR IN THE GARDENS

Page 3

Peonies are other June friends.

Daylilies harmonize with the ever-blooming yellow cordyallis, both in the Arbor Garden.

The goldfish leave their winter quarters in the house and return to have the run of their little pond in the Arbor Garden.

Frogs, snails, honeybees and the occasional newt also move in.

June is also a month of Iris.

I am nutty about irises!

These golden yellow iris were given to me twenty years ago by a very wise gardener. They grew in my first perennial garden and got moved to the farm where they have flourished and spread.

These pale purple beauties have also done very well.

Here comes inspector Cody.

We are trying to grow a larger stand of pink bearded iris. They are not as hardy as the purple iris but each blossom is a glory.

Okay, just a few more iris pictures!
